Al walked through the door and into the Slytherin common room. A quick glance around showed that neither Scorpius or Tony were there, which at first was a relief. Then the horrible thoughts of what they might be doing came to him. With his head down, he made his way to his room.
He lay on his bed, with the curtains drawn. He realised a lot of people must be at tea in the Great Hall. He wasn't hungry. He lay there, staring at the ceiling. He knew he would have to start distancing himself from Scorpius. He knew it was going to hurt; to see him with Tony. He would wish him well, and leave them to it. He would-
“Al, are you there?” asked Scorpius, in a quiet voice.
Al hesitated, then replied. “Yeah.”
“I brought you something to eat. You missed tea,” said Scorpius.
“I wasn't hungry,” said Al.
There was a brief silence, before Scorpius spoke again. “I looked for you earlier. After the match. I spoke to your Mum, too.”
“I was around. Then I was with James and Lily,” said Al.
“Everything okay with the family?” asked Scorpius.
“Yeah.”
More silence followed.
“Al, will you please come out from there so we can talk,” asked Scorpius.
Al sighed. He supposed Scorpius was going to admit he was with Tony. Well, better to get it over and done with. He sat up and opened his curtains. He sat on the edge of his bed,
“So, talk,” he said.
Scorpius ran his hand through his hair. “I spoke to Rose. She said you saw me and Tony...shit Al, I'm so sorry.”
Al shrugged. “Don't worry about it,” he said.
“Al, you've got it all wrong. Tony and me, we're not together,” said Scorpius.
“You looked together when I saw you with your tongues down each others throats,” said Al.
Scorpius looked sharply at Al. “It wasn't like that, and you know it.”
Al shrugged. “Is that it? Is that what you wanted to talk about. How you and Tony aren't together, despite snogging in the change room.”
“No, that's not what I wanted to talk to you about,” said Scorpius. “You seem surprised that I was snogging Tony, not the fact that I was with a guy. Did you know I was gay?”
“What? No, I never, I mean-no, I never thought you were gay. Not that it matters to me,” said Al, confused.
“It doesn't matter to you that I'm gay?” asked Scorpius, watching Al carefully.
“Of course not. You're my best friend, Scor. I just want you to be happy,” said Al, standing up.
“You make me happy, Al,” said Scorpius, softly.
'What do you mean?” asked Al.
Scorpius took a step forward, and kissed Al on the lips.
Al was stunned and didn't react. Scorpius pulled away.
“I-I'm sorry Al, I thought-”
Al pulled Scorpius to him and kissed him. They came apart and looked at each other, then kissed again, harder and longer.
Al saw fireworks. He felt his heart was going to jump out of his chest. He couldn't breathe, but he didn't care. He never wanted to stop kissing Scorpius.
Finally, they did stop. They looked at each other, smiling softly. They hugged, and they could each feel how the other had reacted to their kiss.
“I've wanted to do that with you for a long time,” admitted Scorpius.
“Merlin, me too. That day in my bedroom, before we came back to Hogwarts, I came so close to kissing you,” said Al.
“You should have,” said Scorpius, palming Al's cheek with his hand. “We would have had this earlier,” said Scorpius, kissing him again.
“When I saw you with Tony, geez Scor, I felt my heart rip in two. Don't do that to me again, please,” begged Al.
“I'm sorry, Al. So sorry. Tony knows how I feel about you. I don't know why he kissed me, but I was thinking about you. Honestly!” said Scorpius.
“Okay,” said Al softly. He pulled Scorpius to him again; he couldn't get enough. They kissed again.
Al broke away and took Scorpius hand. He led him to his bed. Together, shyly, they lay on the bed and shut the curtains.
They continued kissing. Al couldn't believe how right it felt. He longed to do more, and ran his hands over Scorpius's chest and down his abdomen. He reached around and grabbed his butt.
“Al,” groaned Scorpius, licking Al's neck.
“You feel so good,” whispered Al.
They froze as they heard some of their dorm mates come in. They were starting to get ready for bed.
Al and Scorpius lay contentedly together, listening to the conversations going on around their room.
They lay facing each other, sometimes laughing silently, sometimes stealing little kisses.
They were trapped there for an hour and a half, before their dorm mates went to bed and the lights were out. Not that they minded.
Reluctantly, Scorpius whispered that he should go back to his bed. He told Al they would talk more tomorrow. Al nodded happily.
Scorpius kissed him goodnight. Al kissed him back hungrily. The simple kiss grew passionate. Scorpius dragged his mouth away from Al's.
“Let me go now, or I'll end up staying the night here with you,” warned Scorpius.
Al wanted him to stay so badly, but he knew it was too early for all that. For now, anyway. He pulled away and let Scorpius go.
“Go. While I can let you go,” he said, breathless.
Scorpius nodded, and left his bed. He made his way to his own, on the other side of the room. He looked back at Al as he got into his bed. He winked at him, then got into bed and drew the curtains.
Al drew the curtains back around his bed. He couldn't believe what had happened. He felt he had a goofy smile on his face, but he didn't care. He had kissed Scorpius, and he had kissed him back. Life was good!
Eight floors up, Lily had entered the Gryffindor common room. The party was still going, and some of the older boys were getting louder and louder. Lily looked around, but there was no sign of Liam or Ruby.
“Probably off snogging somewhere,” said Lily, with a pang.
She really didn't know why she was so bothered by that thought. Liam had become such a good friend to her. From what she knew of her, she didn't really think Ruby was Liam's type. As his friend, she was just looking out for him, she told herself.
She refused to linger on that tiny bit of hope that the letter she had received that morning was from Liam. In fact, the more she thought about, and with Fee babbling in her ear, she was now convinced it had come from Sean.
“Lily?”
Lily turned, and saw Sean smiling at her. “Oh, hi, enjoying the party?” she asked brightly.
“I am now that you've come back. Is everything okay?” he asked.
'How sweet', she thought. “Oh yes, just some family stuff to deal with,” she said with a laugh.
“Oh, well, I'm not sure if you heard what I said to you earlier, about me breaking up with Carolyn?” he asked.
“What? No, I didn't, I'm so sorry,” she said.
Sean shrugged. “Well anyway, I was wondering if you would go with me to Hogsmeade next week?” he asked.
Lily started at him. “You-you want to go to Hogsmeade with me?” she asked.
Sean laughed. “Yeah, I think we could have a lot of fun, do some Christmas shopping, meet up with some friends at the Three Broomsticks, what do you think?”
Lily smiled. “Yeah, that does sound like fun. I'd love to go with you to Hogsmeade Sean, thanks.”
Sean smiled in relief. “Good! Er, there's just one more thing,” he said.
“What's that?” asked Lily.
Sean leaned down and kissed her. Lily was surprised, but quickly kissed him back. They broke apart and smiled at each other; silly grins on their faces.
“What do you say we go for a walk?” asked Sean, holding out his hand.
“Sounds like a good idea,” said Lily, dazzled. She put her hand in his, and they left the common room.
As they passed Fiona, she gave Lily the thumbs up, and whispered loudly, “See, I knew it was Sean who sent you the letter.”
Lily winked at Fiona, as she climbed through the door. She completely missed a puzzled look on Sean's face as he muttered, “Letter? What letter?”
Lily smiled as he came through and took her hand; leading her to the closest broom cupboard. Life was good!

The day before they left Hogwarts for the Christmas break, Lily found Sean cheating on her with his ex-girlfriend, Carolyn. After delivering a Bat Bogey hex to him that would have made her mother proud, she told him they were through. With her head held high, but her heart breaking, she stormed off.
A happy Liam Finnegan sat on the Hogwarts Express, trying to compose a poem, and find a word that rhymes with Potter.

Two days before their Easter break, Ali confessed to James that she thought she might be pregnant.
Neville caught her nicking plants from the greenhouse to make the potion to detect pregnancies, and immediately knew what she wanted the plants for. He was furious, and forbid Ali to leave Hogwarts for the Easter break. James and Ali had planned to spend it together with James's family.
The day after leaving Hogwarts, Ali sent James a note to say it was a false alarm. A relieved James was able to have a happy Easter break. However, when he returned to Hogwarts, Ali and him talked, and decided to take a break for the remaining couple of months, so they could concentrate on their NEWTS.
A relieved Neville owled this news to an equally relieved Harry and Ginny.
A week later, James and Ali got back together.
They passed their NEWTS easily.

On the last day of term, Professor McGonagall was overseeing the departing students. She saw Al Potter lingering; waiting for Scorpius, who had gone to send an urgent owl to his father.
She confided in Al that he would be returning for his final year as Head Boy. His leadership qualities made him an obvious and unanimous choice. Al was happy and proud, and knew his parents would be, too. He looked forward to the party at the Burrow when Nana Molly found out!
When Scorpius joined them, Professor McGonagall told him how sorry she was that he wouldn't be returning to Hogwarts.
A stunned Al found out that Draco had just owled Scorpius to say that he would be spending his final year at Durmstrang Academy. Draco and Astoria were moving to Germany for a year, to be with Astoria's family.
By the time the Hogwarts Express pulled in to Kings Cross, Al and Scorpius had made a plan. They would ask both their parents if Scorpius could be under the guardianship of the Potters for the year that the Malfoys would be away. Scorpius would go with his parents for the summer holidays, and return for his last year at Hogwarts, coming to stay at the Potters over Christmas and Easter.
Both the Potter parents and the Malfoy parents said no.
Neither set of parents could understand why their son was so upset at the news. Both Al and Scorpius had yet to reveal their true relationship to them, or even to admit to their parents they were gay. ( although Ginny had a strong suspicion ).
Both the Potter parents and the Malfoy parents allowed Al to spend the latter part of their summer holiday with Scorpius and his family.
One night, while his parents were at a party, Scorpius and Al made love for the first time together.
