Well written conversation between Harry and Arthur.

Good chapter, loved the Rita Skeeter bit, you portrayed her very well, I'm still hating her guts! I didn't like the part where Harry asked Mr Weasley if he could call him 'dad' though, I don't think this is something Harry would do.

Author's Response: Yeah, I've changed my mind about that since writing it too :) It seemed awesome at the time though! ROLFOL

Oh, yet another great chapter! The moment at the end between Harry and Arthur made me a little teary. I love the way you're making Harry so close to all the Weasleys. Rita Skeeter's back to her old tricks once again - you would've thought she would move on from writing about Harry and Hermione after four years but she hasn't.

I know it you won't be reading this review since you have completed the story long gone.
But this was the best chapter of this story so far.
I can feel that the second half would have been difficult for you to write.
It was beautifully done.

I am reading Rebuilding Life for the second time. I first read it about 6 months ago, when I was still fairly new to reading H/G stories. Anyway, I had remembered from the first time around just how much I loved the Harry - Arthur conversation in Chapter 45, but I had forgotten about this conversation. It is so well written; such a true and moving depiction of a father -- son interaction (made all the more moving by the fact that they are not father and son, biologically speaking).

Author's Response: I adore Harry and Arthur interactions :)

Two comments on things thus far...why is Ron's rude, insensitive, jealous, ill mannered behavior viewed as being in any way endearring? Secondly, this scene with Arthur and Harry was spectacularly well done.Dialogue and description painted a clear, loving, emotional picture.

Author's Response: I'm not sure at which point Ron's behaviour is being viewed as endearing? He's being an idiot. But from Harry's point of view, he's his best mate so ... I wouldn't go so far as endearing though. Harry might be cutting him some extra slack he shouldn't have but I wouldn't say Ron is at all endearing. I think the harry and Arthur scene is about my favourite part of the whole fic :)

I loved that conversation between Arthur and Harry--very sweet, very paternal.
Thanks!

What a lovely time between Harry and Mr Weasley. So moving. Such an intimate conversation but really practically no ackwardness. How many future father-in-laws could have that conversatioh with the daughter's boyfriend. And what a beautiful ending.

Author's Response: Well Arthur's pretty darn special! (Also fairly fictitious! ROFLOL)

A very touching chapter. Especially the heart-to-heart at the end.

Author's Response: Thanks, this is one of my favourite chapters :) .

There are so many parts I'd like to mention but the best thing I can say is, thanks once again for the wonderful chapter!

You know, this is one of my favorite versions of "The Talk" out there -- why didn't bring this up in the last podcast? Seriously, though. It's sweet with just the right note of poignancy and seriousness. I can see Mr. Weasley saying all of those things to Harry -- and he's very right about everything that he's saying. Harry and Ginny's relationship is something that they'll have to work out by themselves.... and I agree that separating for a year after they'd been apart the year before would probably not be for the best. Harry needs some time to be Harry Potter, the seventh year student at Hogwarts, not Harry Potter, the Boy Who Saved the World. At least in this story.

Oh, and Rita Bleeding Skeeter... I hate that character with a passion. I really did want to be a journalist until I read Goblet of Fire and then decided that life wasn't for me. I have this keen sense of boundary and personal space that I couldn't violate. I wouldn't be a good reporter.

In any case, brilliant job and on to the next!

Author's Response: I totally love the Arthur and Harry moment in this chapter. It remains one of my favourite parts of this story. And while I since realised Harry didn't go back, I kept Harry going back becasue basically this is the story of if he did - which is what I am in fanfiction for! The What If? i also hate and loathe Rita Skeeter - hold onto your hat, she'll be back ;)

Hey Kezza,

I'll start with the end of this chapter because that's the part I've been thinking about since I stopped reading last. I disagree with you that the title of that chapter should have been "Dad". There was so much more to this chapter than Harry just getting to call Arthur "dad"; I think that what led up to Harry getting to call Arhur that is so much more important. I loved the talk in the shed; the things you said about marriage made me think about things I haven't thought about in a long time because life seems to get in the way and one begins to take one's spouse for granted.

I also liked the way you handled Harry's uncertainty about his future. He has never let himself think that he has one and it shows in his actions and what he says just how amazed and scared of it he is all at the same time. The feeling isn't that uncommon, though; a family friend just graduated from high school and she admitted that at the moment, all she wants to do is turn back the clock a couple of years rather than go on to something completely new and, for her, terrifying. Anyway, Arthur handled that part of their talk beautifully.

I'm so excited for Hermione! She's been worrying about her parents for so long and now she has the opportunity to fetch them back home and be with her own family for a bit before she goes back to Hogwarts. It's going to be interesting to see how her parents handle the fact that she made them be Monica and Wendle against their will, even though her intent was to protect them.

Leave it to Rita Skeeter to cause trouble! Viktor is right... Harry *does* need a PR person.

I hope you know how much I enjoyed this chapter. It's great to see Harry acting like an adult, even when he's confused what his role is at the moment, and accepting the fact that he has a living family who is willing to help him whether he wants their help or not. Two thumbs up!

~Arnel

Author's Response: I struggled with the title of this chapter really. No doubt there are other titles that would work, but it is what it is now! lol I settled on it eventually becasue it's more than Harry calling Arthur Dad I sort of flet like there was alot of parental influences on this chapter, like Harry was gradually letting them take on that role more and more. I like that end part of the chapter a lot though. I'll warn you now though - I didn't really explore Hermione's parents *ducks for cover* I think you'll enjoy what I have in store anyway! Thank you so much for the reviews. I heart them greatly!

I just love this story! I thought I'd pause here to tell you that. You have nailed the relationships between the characters and I love all the comic relief you put in. You can have me bawling one minute and laughing the next. What a great story! Please continue!!! :)

Author's Response: Thanks, I hope you continue to enjoy, more coming ... soon.

Well, I'm just now getting around to reading this story and I wanted to tell you how much I liked it. This chapter in particular, with Harry talking to Arthur was exceptionally well done. It had a very good "feel" to it, very natural even. The characterization is also quite well done, even Molly (whom I think is hard to write, but maybe that's because I don't like her so much). I disliked DH enough, I wasn't sure I wanted to read this story at first, but now that I've started it, I'm glad I did. KUTGW and all that jazz. I see I have some more chapters to work thru to catch up. :-) Kevin

Author's Response: I like Molly :D . I'm glad you are enjoying it, that's all I ask! Now go read, catch up! :p
