Can't anyone ever rip into the old fart for his errors, misjudgements, inaction, and game-playing? Even in canon, the old fart is a very poor excuse for a man, having left a baby on a doorstep with people he know hated magic without letting them even have a choice in the matter. For someone who says that there are always chooses, he sure seems to take them away from everyone else.

I like the new immortality idea. It gets old reading horcrux stories, because allot of the time they are the same thing. I am interested to see where this goes.

Hmm... yes; I think your approach to Tom's "temporary immortality" is at least as evil as Horcruxes. :-}

And I rather like the way Ginny demonstrated that she can hold her own; granted, she didn't come off completely unscathed: there would be some emotional trauma, if nothing else. But she & Harry have their Bond -- and that proved to be quite helpful for them; their conversation about it in the earlier part of the chapter was rather sweet. Harry's new poem (and explication thereof) was cute, as was Ginny's response.

I note that Harry & Ginny seem to favor the blasting curse; nothing wrong with that, as I can see how it could be quite effective. But I also suspect that it could also be quite effective used indirectly: to destroy or disrupt the support for someone, for example, or the supports for a structure that is above the intended target. Oh! Speaking of "indirect" approaches: I was just reminded of a couple of classes of attacks in chess; perhaps Ron would figure out ways to apply them to real-life battles. They are the "pin" and the "fork."

Well done.

Six students and three aurors died? Who?

The new immortality thing is creative.

I prefer your way to JKR's. I have hated the horcrux idea since I read book 6. Reminds me too much of a computer game where you have to collect or destroy items to get to a boss.

Fantastic work, as usual! ~Michelle~

I kind of like the lack of a bunch of horcruxes that they have to go track down really once you've read one quest for the horcruxes you've read 90% of them (ocasionally you get something new and interesting). any ways great chapter decent fight scene, I like how Ginny was capable of looking after herself even when kidnapped.

I enjoyed the chapter. The action was good. I like to see Harry kick Tom's behind. Anyway, thanks. W.
