YAY!!! snape+azkaban=happiness! lol. i love the way you handled this trial... especially at the end when Madam Bones just kept saying "all in favor of..." until she got to the point where Fudge was no longer Minister and was being tried for obstruction of justice. Awesome writing!

OH boy, I LIKE this chapter. Snape gets his. Now, if you could have just got the Toad taken care of...but hopefully that is coming up or maybe she just disappears? Of course, there should have been a trial for Barty Crouch Sr. and maybe Percy by now for obstruction of justice and aiding and abetting a escaped convict...

Overall, excellent -- especially for plot development.
But why should Dobby be punished with a "bonus?" (Recall, Dobby refused to accept as much as Dumbledore wanted to pay him, insisting on a smaller amount.)
Harry's "save" for Ron was chivalrous; his subsequent conversation with Ginny was amusing.
Fudge comes across as a mean-spirited clown; probably not too far off the mark, there. That said, the set of rules & procedures that Madame Bones was following seemed a bit odd to me: I wouldn't expect the presiding officer of a deliberative body to make motions in the first place, and I'd expect motions to be made as just that -- motions. She seemed to grab the "100 KG" out of thin air -- I'd have thought that first the issue of compensation for the unjust imprisonment would be discussed; that principal agreed to, then the matter of choosing an amount would be properly discussed.
I'd also expect that Sirius will donate the money -- he doesn't need it, right?
It wasn't clear to me how DJ Umbridge voted in ballotting subsequent to the first.
"muttering of ascent" should be "muttering of assent," I think. :-}
Still, an excellent turn of events for the Wizarding World, yes? :-)

I'm not entirely sure how things would get handled in the wizarding court, so I may have messed up a bit on procedure. If I said everybody voted, then toad went with the flow so she would be politically correct.
I didn't really think about Dobby's bonus, but it could be an old sock, couldn't it?

Really nice fic, and great trial, especially what happened to snape.
I do however think you are being to rough wtih Ron character. Sure he is slow at times, but I highly doubt he would forget what day it was by a week, especially since he Harry and Ginny were planning Hermione's birthday.

I suppose I am biased against Ron based off of the way he acted in GoF. I've never forgiven him for the way he treated both Harry and Hermione in that book. I admit that I don't like Ron. I don't think I abuse him too much in this fic, but I will warn you that Hermione will find out the truth about her gift in the next chapter, so Ron will be abused again. There'll be apologies afterwards. I hope you enjoy the fic, anyway.

Author's Response: Thanks! My impression from the books is that veritaserum can't be fought, at least that's my impression. I've read some good fics where it could be fought, but in this fic, it can't be. There may be an antidote Snape would know about, however, no one was informed about the memories or truth-serum in time to do anything about it.
