After the Sorting Ceremony beginning a new Hogwarts school year, Professor Dumbledore announces a Halloween treat. The Quidditch Pitch will have a huge tent cover. Under it will be a maze of eight rooms making up a Haunted House. Each Hogwarts House will have two rooms, not adjacent to each other, to decorate. On Halloween (Oct 31) the Haunted House Maze will be open to all Hogwarts students and staff. If you are successful in navigating through the maze, you will find a Halloween party at the other side of the Pitch, including tables & chairs, refreshments, music, and a dance floor. If you are unsuccessful and get lost in the maze, you will be magically sent back to the entrance.
