After brooding around, Harry Potter ended up looking out a dirty window in an unused room in some unknown part of the castle. He was startled when he heard a voice close by say, “Hello?” A portrait that had seen better days started a conversation with him. Harry shortly learned that the vast majority of the portraits at Hogwarts are neglected and abandoned. Keeping up conversations, Harry became the most popular person the portraits wanted to talk to.
The portraits know every square inch of the castle, where everybody and everything is, what everybody is saying, what they’re doing, and with whom. Within a month, Harry became the most informed person in the castle. Nothing was sacred.
The Portrait Network by potterfan2008 [Reviews - 24]
** Winner of the May 2015 Dumbledore's Silver Trinket Award for Best One-Shot ** *** Winner of Best Overall, Most Adventurous, and The People's Choice Award in The Portraits Challenge *** Harry found himself in a room of abandoned portraits and cleaned them up. In return for this act of kindness, the portraits decide it is only right to help Harry with the Triwizard Tournament. A simple interaction changes the whole year for Harry.

The Fine Art Of Not-So-Fine Art by Spenser Hemmingway [Reviews - 10]
*** Winner of Most Resourceful in The Portraits Challenge *** Picasso has nothing on certain Wizarding artists. Ars Gratia Artis-- "Art for Art's Sake" doesn't really work for Harry and Ginny (his biography is with Warner Brothers not MGM).
