I've been married for a little over a year, work full time as a civil engineer and am studying part time to complete my master's degree in engineering. A Darker Shade of Light came about after my wife told me the two worlds could never merge. It's also my first long fic and hence it is not well written in my opinion. I will probably go back at some point to redo the first story. Some people have thought the story would be about a Dark Harry, but the title actually indicates the opposite, he is very light/good but has a hint of a troubled past. I am from South Africa and Afrikaans is my home language. Practically everyone in the company I work for is Afrikaans. That means I rarely speak English these days. But my past is a bit more confusing. I lived in England for a few years, as my father worked there for a while. I played a lot of cricket for my local club, the county I lived in and eventually England, but we returned to South Africa where I finished the last four years of my schooling. Here I became the first person in my family to finish school with both English and Afrikaans as a 1st language (Something I'm rather proud of) My schooling in England, however, was not straightforward. I attended an international school, which basically means American and so for a few years I got bombarded with both the British and the American way of saying things. Hence I get very confused at times. These days I like to read, take photos, and ride my mountain bike into the mountains near my home. I only recently started writing and I love it. Hope you enjoy my writing. If not please tell me. If you hate it PM me and tell me why. That is the only way I can improve.
