Please report any violations of the TOS to SIYE administrators by e-mailing the staff of SIYE. Any violations can result in deletion of stories or deletion of account and all privileges.

If you accept the rules, please choose from the categories below and please be sure to place your story in the proper category. Here are the category descriptions:

Pre-OotP Anything that holds to canon, but takes place before OotP.

Post-OotP All canon stories that take place after OotP.

Alternate Universe All stories that do not hold to canon.

SIYE Challenges This is a special category that should ONLY be used if you are entering your story into one of our competitions or challenges.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE: You can't copy and paste from Word Documents - it messes up your submission. Also, you CAN'T upload Word documents as well.

Submission Rules

The following are the rules for submitting fiction to the Sink Into Your Eyes fanfiction archive. By posting a story here, you are stating that you have read and reviewed these rules and will abide by them.

These are quite simple. All rules are in place to create a better looking archive and to eliminate anything that doesn't belong in this type of archive. The rules do not judge plot (with some exceptions), spelling, or grammar. But they do encourage quality fanfictions.

General Rules

1. Sink Into Your Eyes is a shipper archive for Harry Potter/Ginny Weasley fan fiction. Stories submitted for posting on SIYE must have Harry and Ginny as the primary couple. In very rare cases, with prior approval of the Head Administrator, SIYE may allow them to be a secondary couple along with other main characters and/or ships that align with H/G. H/G must ALWAYS be in the story - this is after all, an H/G archive.
   
   
2. PUBLICATION ON SIYE IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT! Therefore, you should be aware that your story may be refused on plot, characterisation or other grounds if it is determined to be incompatible with SIYE's aims.
   In particular, Harry and Ginny should be plausibly in-character; you're writing about them, not original characters who happen to have the same names. The characters don't belong to the writer, but to JKR. The SIYE Staff has an obligation to treat them respectfully.
   The following are a few examples, please keep in mind they are not all inclusive:
   • JKR's Harry is not a drug user, so you can't write a story about him being one.
   • The Golden Trio don't go out at night binge drinking so you can't make them out as drunks.
   • Ginny doesn't shag every guy in her year, so don't make her out to be excessively promiscuous.
   
   
   
3. SIYE shall not be held responsible for maintaining a copy of any story or chapter submitted for posting, whether it is approved, posted, published, or rejected. The submitter/author is solely responsible for maintaining a copy of their story or chapter.
   
   
4. Your entry must be at least 1000 words. This either means per chapter of a chapterized fiction or for the whole fiction if its only one chapter long. Please also note that the limit is for the actual chapter text - so author notes, song-fic lyrics and your summary ARE NOT included in the word count.
   
   
5. Please ensure your fiction has proper carriage returns between paragraphs. Also ensure that it is properly formatted. (Hint: Use the Preview mode to check for this.)
   
   
6. Please check for grammar and spelling errors. Your fiction CAN be denied if we find a 'Canon' spelling error (anything from the HP world - names, places, spells, etc) or if the staff feels that the number of errors detract from the story.
   
   
7. Anything that may be read but is not directly in a story must be G rated. This includes Comments, Reviews, Story Summaries, and Author's Notes.
   
   
8. Please ensure that the summary for your fic isn’t merely “Read and Review.” Please try to summarize the story.
   
   
9. HTML codes, images and links to other sites are not allowed in your summary. Unfortunately, the script lets them by. Please note that if we find them, we will delete them without notification.
   
   
10. Entry title and summary must be proper cased. (e.g. 'Chapter One: The Great Beginning) Notice how all words are capitalized. This is proper case.
    
    
11. Entry must be given the proper rating. You may give every chapter the same rating or you may differ chapter by chapter. The rating of the first chapter MUST match the highest rating of any following chapter. Example: If every chapter but R-rated number eight is PG, chapter one must be rated R.
    
    
12. Please note that a G rating means that there are no swear words in the story. Period.
    
    
13. Please note that the F word constitutes and automatic R rating.
    
    
14. Entry must be placed in proper category. If you are unsure of your category, please refer to the category descriptions and make your best guess. If still unsure, contact a staff member.
    
    
15. Chapters of the same story are not allowed to be submitted as separate entries. All chapters/segments must be grouped together using the "Add Chapter" feature in your control panel.
    
    
16. Your story has to be written in English. Your story may contain parts of texts in other languages, but the main language of your story has to be English.
    
    
17. Your story cannot be in all caps or large sections of the story can't be in all caps. REMEMBER THAT TYPING IN CAPS IS SHOUTING AND IS REALLY HARD TO READ FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME.
    
    
18. Do NoT wRiTe In AlTeRnAtE CaPs. Apart from the fact that it takes ages to write, when one sees alternate caps, mostly people stop reading. So you'd wasted your time, and ours.
    
    
19. Please ensure that the title and summary of your story have proper capitalization and punctualization.
    
    
20. If you submission isn’t accepted, please make the necessary changes that the archivist calls for and then re-submit. DO NOT re-submit repeatedly without making changes.
    
    
21. When making comments under news articles, remember to keep to the topic. Off-topic comments will be removed by the site staff.
    
    
22. Please do not reference characters in your story using illegal drugs or alcohol - especially by the main characters.

Entries Not Allowed

1. No lists. (which include Bloopers, "Top 10 ...", "Reasons why ...", and etc.) The only instance this is allowed is if it is part of a story as a whole, in other words embedded in regular paragraph fiction. Of course, it must flow with the story.
   
   
2. No 'chat room' entries where the story is depicted using chat room talk. I can't see Harry on the net anytime soon. So sorry.
   
   
3. No 'script' type entries are allowed.
   
   
4. Announcements are not allowed (which includes polls, previews, challenges, author notes, Q&As, rants, opinions, reviews, and etc.) Again the acception would be is if they were embedded in the regular paragraph fiction, like a note at the top or bottom.
   
   
5. No multiple entries of the same material. There can only be one copy of any unique story on the entire site. No exceptions.
   
   
6. No copying from a previously published work without approval (aka plagiarism).
   
   
7. No NC-17 fictions are allowed. Please note I also deem fictions that are PWP (porn without plots) as NC-17 - even in an instance where the language makes it technically an R rating. To me being PWP makes them NC-17 automatically.
   
   
8. Due to spam submitted by enemies of the H/G ship, all stories containing a character death of Harry or Ginny must not be a one shot fiction (one chapter length). This is only allowed in a multi-chaptered story.
