Harry always seems to survive the most appalling injuries. These seem even worse than usual.

I love the attacking gargoyles. Nice touch. Well, at least the student casualties were low. Poor Ernie. I can see him as a blob continuing to fight on the ground. I love a good battle scene, and this was very, very well done. That whip was cruel. Harry fought intelligently. This was a sound victory for the side of the light, so I hope Harry won't suffer to much guilt over the injured and dead. Excellent chapter!

Author's Response: THANK YOU for noticing the gargoyles! I thought they were a great (and fun!) addition to the battle, but very few people have mentioned them! And yes, Ernie as a "blob" but fighting on - what a picture! I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter! Thanks for writing! Abraxan

Brilliant absolutely brilliant. You really do cover everything. I'm still reeling from the whip attack Harry endured. Gosh it's sound awful.

Author's Response: Having felt the lash of a whip a few times while trying to conquer cracking one, I know it's not a fun thing to deal with! At least I was never hurt the way he was! I'm glad you thought I covered everything! Thanks for writing! Abraxan

Wonderful chapter, as always. I was a little curious as to why Harry's injuries didn't disappear after he was rebirthed from his ashes. No matter what the injuries, I thought that phoenixes started out like any baby - whole. I understand about the lashes, if they're resistant to phoenix magic, but the other injuries, the burns and the internal bleeding, I would have expected to be healed. Anyway, I'm sure you had your logic. I enjoyed the action, and please post again soon.

Author's Response: What can I say? It's magic! Who knows? He was horribly injured before he changed into the phoenix. The phoenix's rebirth, to my way of t hinking, only saved him from the AK - Harry himself wasn't reborn, the phoenix was. Think about it -- if Harry was literally reborn, he wouldn't have a scar when he became a man again, would he? Nope, I don't think so. So if the scar would remain, then so would the injuries. Dumbledore is PROBABLY an Animagus in canon -- at least there are hints that way -- and he keeps that scar that looks like a map of the London underground from change to change. It's possible he's been "reborn" in phoenix form at some point, since he fought Grindlewald years ago. So I based it on that. Also, in my mind, the Animagus INHABITS the animal's body when he's in Animagus form (in a way) - they're separate beings, rather than the wizard being completely (or nearly completely -- you'll see in Destiny that I think they retain their own consciousness) animal as he would be in human-to-animal transfigurations (where somebody turns somebody else into an animal). There's really no "science" involved here, it's all guesswork, and that's the best I can do to answer your question. Abraxan

Brilliant story yet again, i like the way you went through the battle. it was very detailed! And thank you for updating so quickly =D (i think)! Keep writing please! Loving your story, i don't want it to end!

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you liked the battle -- it was difficult to write, since I know nothing about battles (thank goodness!) except what I've read or seen in films or on TV. I'm really glad you liked it! Thanks for writing! Abraxan
