Title: The Refiner's Fire
Excuse my ignorance, but I was wondering what brought on the Refiner's Fire?
I'm currently on my third re-read of your epic, and I just never really figured it out. It's probably mentioned, clear as day, but I couldn't see it. I think I always assumed that it was the removal of the memories of Casey, but we all know that when you assume things, it makes an ass out of you and me.
Author's Response: What brought on the Refiner's Fire illness? Yikes, it's been years since I worte RF and quite a while since I read it. As I recall, Harry's guilt over Casey's death was the initial incitinig incident, but the massive removal of so many memories at once was what finally weakened him enough to develop the Refiners Fire illness.
Have you read all the other stories? Time of Destiny continues this tale, and there are a lot of ficlets (8, I think) that fit into the time gap between Destiny and its epilogue. The RF tale is completed with the novel, "Now and Forever," the last chapter of which is being uploaded this week. It, too, fits into that time gap, but it also brings Harry into a normal post-war life.
I hope you enjoy the rest of my HP stories! If you'd like to read my original work, I have a novel that's available on Amazon.com and B&N.com (and other sites) called "Star Sons - Dawn of the Two." It's a fantasy about two brothers who are mages, and is the first book in at least a three book series. The second Star Sons book should be published in early 2009. Just go to one of the sites and search for "Lynda Sappington" (that's me) and you'll fine "Star Sons."
Thanks for writing!

Title: The Refiner's Fire
well this is a fascinating illness that you have developed for harry to go through. its something original and well developed and not to mention the fact that you were able to describe its symptoms to something from the muggle world as well. delighted that harry was able to come out of it alright although he'll need to get a lot of food back into him but am sure that won't take long.
enjoying the interaction that is just beginning between harry and ginny and i am quite sure it won't take long for them to come together. keep up with the great and exciting work and i look forward to read more chapters of this excellent chapter.
Author's Response: I'm glad you found the illness believeable! That's cool! I try to base my fantasy stories in reality as much as possible, because I think that makes them more believable. Glad you enjoyed it!

Cool chapter. I, of course, wondered what the Refiner's Fire would turn out to be. That's a great idea. Ginny acting as Harry's teddy bear was sweet, and the Pirate Harry look gave me a good laugh. Great job.

Wonderful touches of humor throughout - I love the idea of The Refiner's Fire. It ties Harry with two of the greatest wizards of all time. And Ginny's flirting with him is very sweet. Thanks for sharing!
Author's Response: Hi! I'm glad you like the idea of the Refiner's Fire! I liked the connection it created between him and Merlin and Dumbledore. He and Ginny are very sweet together, yup! Glad you like that! Thanks for writing!

RUDDY BRILLIANT i rember posting saying dont kill casey but i like the harry and ginny little play flirt thing please please dont just end this story in like 2 chapters keep it going it has alot of potenshal (cant spell lol)
Author's Response: Hi -- the story is COMPLETE and is 930 PAGES LONG! So nope, it won't end in two chapters, never fear! And there's a sequel, that's currently over 1100 pages long, as well! I have about 3 more chapters to write in the first draft of that one. Glad you're enjoying it! Keep reading and reviewing!
