intense. wow...this started as a calm chapter and ended with a bang. I must say, ZI ofund the Hermione dialogue amusing. i don't know what it is about that part but I find it funny that she goes to Harry to talk...haha about sex too. Anyways, the dragon battle scene was intense, horrificly descriptive and very sad. I miss Norbert now! *sigh* in the word of Charlie Weasley, "He was a good dragon." I loved this chapter. Great job and update soon! --Ray

So many fluffy chapters and now all of a sudden a action cliffhanger! Btw, how many chapters is this story going to be like? Hope you post all of it in one short as soon as possible! Great story as always...! :)

Author's Response: There are five more chapters after this for a total of twenty-two chapters. I just got two more back from my beta - so look for updates shortly!

*shivers in fear* I was so scared during the dragon fight, and now you have to add the Ginny's-in-danger factor! Definitely going to be waiting with bated breath on this next one. LOL about Harry acting as the R/Hr "message board"

oh... oh dear! What has happened eh'? I found that the whole chapter was a bit rushed and that harry seemed way too calm... But still a top notch story! perfect 10

Author's Response: That "rushed" thing is something I'm trying to work on - if anyone has some specifics as to the wheres and hows - let me know!

Aw...why'd Norbert have to die? Also, the sign is a Dark Mark, not a Death Mark. Just letting you know. First-rate story, though ::nods::

Author's Response: I changed that - thanks!

I hate 'Animal Death' stories. I was absolutely a mess after 'Old Yeller', and 'The Yearling' and Norbert's death was no less traumatic. He was a brave boy, taking on all those Dragon's by themselves. But who poisoned the other Dragons? I thought the H/Hr scene was charming and well done. Hermione can be so hard to write and I think you did a great job. It would be so like her to question if Ron really thought she was beautiful. As far as the discussion about violence vs sex. I for one would rather see or read a well done sex scene (though not with my mother) than violence. It almost seems like Americans both glorify sex (how many advertisements showing bikini wearing women and muscular men?) and are repulsed by sex. I really think that it would be better to have an more open attitude like some of the European nations where nudity isn't a big deal. That being said I still don't think I will take a stroll naked through my neighborhood. :) Looking forward to more cliffies, Cheers.

Author's Response: Now I'm feeling extremely guilty - although oddly pleased that I'm not the only one who felt badly about Norbert. (yes, I shed a tear while I was writing it - what a wuss I am!) But I have to be tough like JKR if I'm going to write anything worth saying about war and sacrifice. Don't worry - I'm not going to her lengths. The world will be put to rights by the final chapter.

Author's Response: I forgot to add about the sex vs. violence thing. I think violence is a lot easier to write because what is painful and what causes pain seems to be pretty universal. Pleasure, on the other hand, seems to be more individual. One person's choc. ice cream is some else's lactose intolerence. :) Although the girls in the bikinis do seem to be a universal source of happiness for the male of the species - go figure.

Another good chapter! But RIP poor, poor Norbert. Ah, a cliffie! But this reminds me of discussion back at the 'Quill as to whether the Chamber would be opened once again. I suppose that ever since JKR revealed that there was a link between CoS and Book Six, many HP fans have been speculating about the reopening of the Chamber in Harry's sixth year. It also fits with your inversion theory. (But if it were really inversion, shouldn't Ginny have to save Harry from the Chamber?) Below hairy_hen makes an interesting point about the role of sex and violence in the media. I agree with St M that violence can be portrayed more vividly than sex in general, not just in the HP fandom. Still, I wonder whether the sex vs. violence issue in HP would make for a good discussion back in the Pensieve (at the Sugar Quill). Speaking of the 'Quill, I see that the story archive, so I guess St M can finally post these last four chapters there. And of course I can't wait to read the next chapter for the resolution of this little cliffhanger.

Oh, You know, I really didn't absorb most of the chapter after Norberts death, and charlie's line. That was just too heart breaking, maybe because I'm just a Hagrid at Heart, but still. Very sad, and beautifully written.

Two thumbs way up! Sweet!Harry is adorable! I just love him. Oh, I have to say... you really showed your story telling skills here. Sad as it was, that was an excellent section when Harry returned to the grounds. Seeing the Dark Mark, running to the castle, and about Norbert 's protecting the school very thrilling and emotionaly charged. Every time I think this story can't get any better... it does! By the way, what is it with Ginny and no public display? Inquiring lurkers want to know.... Loved, LovED, LOVED this chapter, and yet, seeking MORE FLUFF! More, more, MORE please. (This surge of anxiety requiring sweetness is most likely brought on by the lovely melody my husband was humming this morning while shaving. I wonder if Harry knows this trick?)

Author's Response: The things we could teach Harry . . . LOL. I'm afraid we have reached the adventure portion of this story (at long last). Don' t despair - there's plenty of fluff in the future. Julu pointed out I had four kisses in the reunion scene and I only needed one. I asked to see her fluff credentials - not really sure it was her, you understand. No PDAs, although Harry's inner Roger Davies wants to be let out!

This is a pretty crazy chapter. All that stuff with Norbert--wow. I admit to being horrified by what happened to him. You certainly didn't gloss over the nastier side of dragon combat; it was pretty intense. The conversation with Hermione was interesting; however, I don't think she'd be so blatant about wanting to talk about Ron, actually. Especially since she did start out with talking about Harry specifically, and not her. Something I've been pondering: why is it considered okay to portray violence in detail, but not sex stuff? One is obviously more positive than the other. Not that I'm implying anything about your writing, really, but I've been thinking about it for a while, and reading this just brought it to the forefront. Anyway. Looking forward to reading what happens next. Cliffhangers are such fun, aren't they? (lol)

Author's Response: Ah, yes - the Hermione characterization - again my writing skills lag behind my thought processes. Hermione and sex - Hermione and talking about sex - I really had to think about this because I don't write R/Hr and I don't feel I know them as well as H/G. My starting point was the "Did you kiss?" line from OotP and then went from there with the Terry Boot conversations. What Hermione told Harry was what any girl would talk over with her girlfriends - because he caught her out - she was startled enough to spill the beans about what she had been thinking about and feeling. Hermione likes to analyze - and I don' t see her as prudish. So it seems natural that she would talk about this stuff. I could also see her distrusting her own experiences of what "snogging" really means. This is a direct parallel to the H/G scene which comes before. Ginny is not the analytical person Hermione is - she is much more private - but she is also someone who trusts her own experiences. Again - two very different girls. Honestly, what I was unsure about was how I portrayed Harry - to tell you the truth. I didn't know if I made him too calm while Hermione was talking - although - I hoped to imply that he had learned something about all this from his experiences with Ginny. Why is it ok to portray violence and not sex? Good old Western culture, I'm afraid. The dragon battle was unbelievably easy to write compared to the H/G scene from the previous chapter. Our language is rich in vocabulary for battle - but not for love. Sad isn't it? I assure you the dragon battle was not just gratuitous description - and hopefully its symbolic importance will be clear by the end of the story. Again, I hope my writing skills will keep up with my thought processes.

You are definitely on a roll! Great dialog between Hermione and Harry (then the cute quickie between Harry and Ron - very funny). I love the idea that Ron and Hermy's 1st kiss is instigated because she's going to knit him a horrible orange scarf. There's something to tell the kiddies. So sad about Norbert.
