Reviews For Saving Harry

Reviewer: FlaGinnyGirl Signed Date: 2010.04.18 - 11:15PM Title: Flying

Jim are you saying that the willow wand thing wasn't planned on your part it was just a coincidence?
wow.
I feel like such an HP geek because I knew that ;-D
So what was the surprise you were talking about in that last chapter, other than me catching everything....lol

Author's Response: I wish I could say the willow wand was planned, but it was pure coincidence! I would never call you an HP geek . . . in writing. The surprise hasn't happened yet. It comes up once they're at Hogwarts. I'm pretty sure you'll catch it, since you find things I didn't even know I put in! :-) -- Jim

P.S. the minute you siad the twins and Ron had thier head together off and on all day I sensed a prank coming...poor Harry. I know the twins didn't mean it for him but sometimes, those thing happen, I'm sure they'll be HORRIFIED with themselves when they see Harry's reaction I just hope Harry gets past this quickly and that it doesn't set him back too far....

Author's Response: Very good pick up on catching the whispered meetings between Ron and the twins and the ill-timed prank. The trio is horrified at the results, but there is a Weasley Pranking rule that will come into play that I hope you find fun. Thanks, Jim

It was published in 1776. I wonder if anything interesting happened that year.” - cute.

'a softly swirling gold and cream pattern' from the vault - kind of like the flowers Lily wore in her hair on her wedding day, a nod to the family she was about to join.
Ginny liked a necklace in the vault that was Garnet, kind of the way she liked rubies in Peter's HH....
I thought it was cute when Harry said "Yes, Dear" as Ginny was getting clothes for him to try.
Didn't Lily have a willow wand ?
Well there were several surprises in that chapter but were you talking about the clock? H ad a feeling when Molly went to get 'something' that that's what she was going to return with I got chills - in a good way ;-)
I loved it when Harry was going over his family tree that he really started to feel like he truly was a part of the wizarding world.
It was so sweet when Harry told Ginny she 'found' him (snif)
oooo that last prank didn't go over so well, GInny is going to HEX them to Hogwarts IF she can make it past Molly......

Author's Response: B, I think you're the first one to comment on the date and the colors, and the jewels had to be some kind of red.

Harry has learned a crucial life lesson: do whatever a Weasley witch tells you. Hmm, there may be a more general application there, too. Good catch on Lily's willow wand. I usually look stuff like that up (and just did). I'm glad the scene where Molly brought the 'something' out got you in a good way. You will what H learned from his family tree come into play shortly. Harry's connection to this new world are very important, because he has been an outsider for 10 of his 11 years.

Can you imagine a child hiding himself for all those years. Ginny instinctively knew there was a 'real' HP inside that silent shell. Two steps forward and one step back, right? You'll see Ginny's reaction at the start of the next chapter. Thanks for another detailed review. -- Jim

One thing that I loved that I don't see in fan fics was the Percy comment I really like that you did that you have him coming out of the shell that he has been in and hopefully it will make life better for everyone long after first year if he was like this in cannon would of saved a lot of grief for the Weasleys.

Wish you would of had Bill and Charlie make a brief entrance into this story would of liked to see the interaction between them and Harry. I really liked the bank scene you did shows more and more that Harry really doesn't need Dumbledore and has some leverage on him also would be interesting to see where you took this.

I really don't know what to think about the prank at the end on one hand I think Harry has grown enough that I wouldn't effect him all that much at least I hope it wouldn't though I am thinking I was wrong with the unseeing and humming tunelessly part kinda makes me scared on what is going to happen.

Author's Response: Thanks! One of the fun things in writing the story was to pull Percy's head from his . . .

Several people mentioned about bringing Bill and Charlie in, but the Weasley section had grown much longer than I anticipated - they were just so fun to write -- that I decided not to include them. You understand why I included the bank scene. Harry has many assets that he didn't know he had. Well, you know the outcome of the prank, so no need to comment. - Jim

i bet that was meant to be for ginny, i do hope that doesn't sret harry back, cos that wld be a shame!

Author's Response: I've been responding backwards - from the later chapters to the earlier ones. So, you know the answers to your implied questions. Simply, I wanted Harry to leave on a negative note, since progress is never without setbacks. I know - I'm tough on the kid. Okay, I've caught up with you again. -- Jim

Oh no! Poor Harry!!! And the twins - what the HECK where they THINKING!!!!!!!!!!! ARGH!!!

Abraxan

Author's Response: Talk about a prank backfiring! As I think I mentioned earlier, Harry's on a slippery slope. I think you'll enjoy the next chapter. -- Jim

Oh no.....oh no......*tries to contain laughter while figuring out how one could help Harry*. Your prank ideas are amazing by the way, some of the funniest I have read and definetly original. ^^ I loved the beginning part at the bank, all of that was amazing and I didn't think the Goblins were really out of character that much. I mean as you say in the story summery this is not for young children and I have a feeling if this really had happened to Harry like it had been only hinted at in the actual books he would have matured a lot faster then the quick rate he already did. Even now he is older and wiser way beyond his years even if he doesn't exactly realize it yet. The part where Harry was added to the family, almost brought me to tears, it was a very close call. Of course all the flying that Harry and Ginny did I loved sooo much, it was just amazing. And finally the prank, oh poor twins...because I have this odd feeling that Harry is going to want revenge...and he won't get caught....

~Kat

Author's Response: Thanks for the compliments on the pranks. The goblins (in my story at least) are not used to being treated with respect by wizards. So, when Harry - a huge depositor with them - treats Griphook with respect, the goblin reciprocates. Good lesson for Harry, and one that will bring him much information down the line. You're right about Harry maturing more quickly. Part of the reason is attributable to the environment he has found with the Weasleys, which has enabled more of his real personality and intelligence to surface. Looking forward to your next comments. -- Jim

What idiots! They had to have known that Harry wasn't ready to have been pranked yet. Bad timing. Poor Harry, I've got to continue reading or I'll combust!

Author's Response: Of course, now you know the prank wasn't meant for Harry. Several people accused me of being evil, but it was the best place to stop. Really. -- Jim

oops and now the site didn't show it had submitted the review so I kept trying and trying and then started up the PC again. I'm not even Pigmentary challenged (read blonde) so what an idiot thing to do. SIGH

Author's Response: Hey! My wife is blonde! I have to protest (in case she reads this). Hitting the Submit key until it shows that it was sent makes sense. Thanks for being persistent! -- Jim

First of all, I have to apologize for the lack of reviews but SIYE hasn't sent me any update notafications at all so ... so ... sorry. I'm starting to read and review now!
*Great Potter Vault part, really imaginitive on describing it's contents and the reactions to them. I could see it in my minds eye.
*Great advice from Arthur throughout this chapter, my favourite dad.
*Loved your new 'mugglewear' shop, really "fitting" that one :)
*Percy: hilarious, his early interaction with Harry has certainly done him wel.
*The family clock **snif** really wonderfull and finaly a Molly hug.
*Not going to say anything on AD *coughjerkcough*
*Damn shame Hedwig missing out on a "ratty meal"
Onto the next one

Author's Response: Hi C, I've sent an email to Dino/Melkior to see if the lack of update notifications can be fixed. No apologies needed!

It's funny you mention "in my mind's eye," because that's how I saw the Vault scene and just described what was there and how they reacted. Arthur's presence helped support Harry through that experience (as did Ginny). Speaking of Ginny, do you think she had fun playihg dress up with Harry at the new clothing store? :-) I couldn't resist giving that line to Percy. It was dry enough I thought it would fit his presumed sense of humor! Quite a contrast between the Weasleys' open acceptance of Harry, while DD continues to misjudge our young man. Oh, and Hedwig will continue to try to make a meal of the rat. Thanks! -- Jim
