I have been enjoying this story for a long time. I can say without a doubt that this, by far, is my favorite chapter though. Good work, can't wait for the next chapter.

Great Chapter!! The long wait was worth it, although it made for a long, long night in a cold forest for our heros. Heh...
Loved Helga and discovering the castle. Besides finding the cup, it gives them a chance to rest and regain their strength. I wouldn't be suprised if Ron's feet are healed.
Can't wait for the next chapter. I almost dread what price the cup will exact from Harry. You are so creative, I'm sure it will be a doozie!!

First of all, welcome back, Amanda! You've been missed. This was a wonderfully described chapter. The contrast between the two worlds was well depicted -- the colorless, silent, foodless, harsh, almost killing forest as contrasted to the soft, green, magical, and ultimately friendlier valley, where death actually meant life for the castle's inhabitants. Helga Hufflepuff was portrayed in an appropriately ethereal manner, and you vividly conveyed her meeting with Harry.
Best of all, it appears no one lost a body part, though Ron may still be at risk, and the horcrux needs to be destroyed, so you still have opportunities.
One question: Why did HH allow Tom to place a bit of his soul in her cup? Just curious.

Fantastic! I love your portrayal of Hufflepuff. the sense of otherworldly magic, and of Harry confronting the fact that he's a Horcrux, are both very well handled. Also - Harry's reactions to waking up as a lion and Hermione and Ron being gone were excellently done as well.

I'd say the last line was the clincher. :-) great chapter!
One thing I would like to add is this...I think you have modelled Helga Hufflepuff after Galadriel from LoTR. Not in a bad sense of course, but I do find some uncanny similarities between the two portrayals. And for someone like me who is a huge fan of all the 3 the series (LoTR, HP and HPFF), I think this is definitely a good thing.

Author's Response: The last line was a last minute add on. I couldn't think of a way to end the chapter that seemed right after I'd rained on Harry's parade enough in the chapter. So I decided on a bit of encouragement. And the whole comparison between HH and Galadriel, I totally hadn't thought of that intentionally. But now you mention it...I do so really striking similiarites. As a fellow LOTR fan, I can say I'm a bit shocked I didn't notice it before, but I'm glad it's a good thing!

well now its time for them to work on healing of ron and time to deal with what is left in the world that voldy needs to stay alive.....kutgw glad ur back...hope rons feet are ok now...maybe they healed them for ron so they can go home....in one piece for molly to skin them alive....
