Silver Trinkets Nomination Reminder
Nominations for January/February DSTAs reopened on January 10th and will close after February 28th. To date, 100 unique users have nominated stories! All categories have at least three stories nominated, but more is always welcomed!
The top ten stories to receive the most nominations in each category will be on the voting ballot. So don't let the fact that a story you wanted to nominate already has a nomination keep you from nominating it again!
Just a reminder that the stories nominated should be published or updated between January 1, 2010 and February 28, 2010. So as you read, be sure to nominate if you feel the story's a good one!
Mrs. Ginny Potter goes to St. Mungo’s to confirm she is pregnant with their first child. But due to an incident at the hospital, she has to leave without knowing the results. By accident, the results are sent to her husband by owl and not to her. A very excited Harry plans to do something special to celebrate the blessed event with his wife.
This Challenge is a song fic, ”You’re Having My Baby”, written and recorded as a duet by popular Canadian music singer Paul Anka with female vocalist Odia Coats. The Challenge is to write a story with:
1. Following the lyrics of the song in mind. If used in part or in whole, the lyrics do not count as part of the minimum 1000 words.
2. Harry plans and celebrates the event with his wife; takes Ginny out to dinner, a getaway trip, romantic evening, a surprise, whatever….
3. The typical baby stuff is discussed; names, planning a baby’s room, announcing to the world, etc.
4. All the early pregnancy symptoms start to happen to Ginny and shared with Harry.
Rules:
1. All general submission rules apply. Stories over 10,000 words are discouraged but not prohibited. R-rated stories are allowed but discouraged. Judges are not required to read stories over 10,000 words or any R-rated stories.
2. All entries must be submitted under You're Having My Baby Challenge (2010-1) sub-category of SIYE Challenges and be submitted by midnight Sunday, February 28, 2010.
3. Multiple chapters are allowed as long as all the requirements are in the chapter(s) that are submitted by the deadline. Completed stories are preferred.
4. The categories for judging are Best Overall, Romance, Husband/Wife Discussion, and Best Celebration.
Bonus phrases for extra creativity are the following. Using any or all of them is not required. A good, creative story will always count much stronger than any bonus.
1. “[Blank] is always better with a good cup of hot chocolate.”
2. “See…it’s not so easy to [blank].”
3. “If I had a Knut for every time he’s/she’s [blank].”
4. “Maybe putting a big ribbon on the [blank] wasn’t such a great idea.”
5. “You really had to see a Healer after [blanking]? Imagine that.”
6. “Since when can [blanks] speak?”

And The Winners Are….
Well…, another short round of stories for the last Challenge of the year. I thought creating your own Task for the Tournament would be easy. But That apparently was not the case. We have three very different stories our 14 judges read through and made up their minds about voting for. One very unique winning category came up. And everyone won something. And now the results…
The 2010-1 Challenge is coming very soon. A blessed event is happening!
I would like to thank my many judges who worked hard for this Challenge: AM, BP, CM, CP, D, EB, GC, JH, JM, JS, LN, NS, RS, & YC. You know who you are. Thank you very much for all that reading and judging. It wasn’t too difficult with three stories but this was a busy time of the year. The Challenge would not exist if nobody judged them.

Changing of the Guard
We regret to announce that effective 1 January 2010, our very own Spenser Hemmingway has resigned his post as an Administrator on the SIYE Staff.
In light of the fact that Spenser has been such a prominent part of the community and also in light of his tremendous services to this site, I think it's only proper that we dub him with the title of Emeritus Administrator and wish him a very fond but regretful farewell with best wishes for his exciting new endeavors.
Though we are sad to see Spenser go, we are nevertheless excited to announce that his post over Beta Relations will be filled by our very own Jennyelf who has been functioning quietly as an Admin for a couple of months. If you would like to be an official SIYE Beta, contact her.
Also- remember to vote for the Silver Trinkets. Thus far, I'm seeing that about 77 people have voted.

Tri-Wizard Tournament Challenge (2009-6) Closed
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
WOW?! Another repeat of the last Challenge. I thought this ‘Task’ would have been easier. But we did end up with three entries instead of two. So judging should be pretty easy. Remember, the categories are Best Overall, Drama, Stealth, and Daring. Again, due to the lack of stories, the judging instructions will be a bit different. Keep an eye open for Friday, the 15th when the winners will be posted. Each story is unique so may the best story win.

Silver Trinket Voting
The nominations for the 2008-2009 Silver Trinkets are now closed. The system has created a voting ballot. Most categories have the top ten, but owing to ties, some categories have more than ten choices on the ballot.
We will accept votes through 10 January 2010. I will then ensure that the top story in each category does indeed fit the category and issue awards, at which time, the nominations for the next round will be opened.

Well everyone it is that time of Year again. Where SirOllivander sits on his Porch in the Snow and Spenser gets drunk with his Garden Gnomes (which he likes to use as targets for his Skeet shooting 0_0) Also this is a time to be with Family and Friends and celebrate by giving and receiving Gifts.
