NotesI believe that when someone has the inspiration to write a story then by all means its always worth reading. However; if its based on another author's characters (in this case J.K. Rowling's) and the characters are out of character, or there's silly mistakes, or canon issues it requires the help to make it the unbelievable story it has the potential to be. If you need someone to help you with grammar then I'm a person you can ask, but more importantly I can help you with writer's block or dialogue or whatever else you need help with plot wise. The one thing I like just as much as being an author myself is helping other author's write amazing, suspenseful stories that the readers will just adore. I'm very responsible and would take being a beta for you seriously. Once you send me a chapter to edit I will definitely send it back to you within a couple of days, if not sooner. I prefer betaing Harry and Ginny fluff, it could be any length and any rating. Whether you choose me or not as your beta, the best of luck with your story.

NotesMy main interest is creative input, but I also have a strong grasp of canon, spelling and punctuation (though grammar checking is not my main interest) . Being English, I am familiar with British terminology and can spot Americanisms. I am welcoming to any genres and love reading new stories. I\'ll be glad to offer help to anyone as a beta reader or just as a fanfiction mentor. Many Thanks.

NotesI’m an English major specializing in the writing track field. I help students with their papers as a tutor on campus. I’ll accept any type of story, but the author should know that I’m not the person to do Brit picking because I’m American.

NotesMy username is Sandeyae and my real name is Lara. I am excellent at catching small, or large, mistakes, be it in continuity, spelling, grammar, etc. and I thoroughly enjoy editing. I am a very good speller, and, for those mistakes that I do miss, I have a wonderful spell check. I have no preference regarding stories so I am willing to beta read anything. I have an excellent grasp of natural sounding dialogue and normal character functions, i.e. out of character acting; I am good at spotting frequent or infrequent OOCness. I also have a strong grasp of the canon (Harry Potter universe) and notice canon breeching mistakes in stories not already noted as Alternate Universe. All ratings are fine. I am always willing to offer advice or tips on story writing or ideas in general.

NotesProfessionally, my writing background is that of a technical writer, but I spent a lot of time brushing up on my grammar skills such that I was able to pass the test on my first go around.

I think that many members of SIYE have wonderful imaginations and I enjoy discovering what additions, twists and turns they can do with the HP universe. That being said, I've found that I sometimes find myself getting distracted from a good idea or plot because of the basics (syntax, punctuation, spelling, etc.).

So, I decided to become a Beta. I'm the type of Beta who will double check facts/spelling/etc. at the HP Lexicon (or other reference) without being asked, provide commentary on plot (whether you want it or not), and try to make my criticism as constructive as possible. That being said, I will not avoid blunt criticism if I think it's necessary. If you really need help with Brit-speak, I'm probably not the best reference (I'm American) - although I can try to help you avoid lingo and phrases that are distinctly American.

I'm not perfect at this (very few people are, honestly) but if my assistance can ensure that the true worth of your work is not overly muddied by the boring stuff (grammar, spelling, etc.), I think everyone will be happy.

NotesMy own genre is humor and adventure. I am dedicated to quality stories for our readers, developing writing skills and of course promoting the Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione relationships. I am also committed to keeping work within the realm of J.K. Rowling's intentions for Harry, which doesn’t mean we can't have some fun. A word of warning...I am an American, and Harry is not (which can sometimes be a challenge). I generally avoid R-rated submissions. Thanks! Eric B.

NotesIn keeping with my lifelong love of commas and obsession with perfection when it comes to spelling, I've recently become an SIYE-approved beta-reader. I'm perfectly willing to read any genre, though I'm best with adventure, romance, and general fluff. I love re-wording sentences, so if you think your story isn't quite flowing right, I can certainly help. I've a thorough knowledge of canon, and I always look up what I'm not sure of. I'm afraid I'm no help with Americanisms, but I do solemnly swear that I am up to-- err, that I will return your chapter within a week. Happy writing!
