Girl Talk Challenge Update #2 |
“One of the biggest fears Harry has is seeing you get hurt.” Lily continued into the early morning hours of Ginny’s sleep. “He knows you can handle yourself. But if in a fight together and that happens, he will be so distracted.” “Why so?” Ginny asked. “He’s training us to be in a fight. What if somebody else gets hurt?” “Harry cares if any of his friends gets injured. But since you are becoming his main interest, there is a lot more concern. There is a difference. That kind of distraction could get him hurt or killed.” “So what am I suppose to do? Sit at Hogwarts and study Charms when he needs me.” Lily thought about her answer carefully. “There may be times when he will ask you to not get involved or even stay behind. I know it goes against your very nature to help him. But not being involved may be the better help you could provide. Knowing you are safe will make him feel better” There is so much Lily could tell Ginny on how to get closer to her son Harry. We’ll just have to wait to read your Challenge stories.

Depends on your beta. Some can turn it around in a day, but it depends also on how long your story is. Contact one of the betas to see if they have time to help and how long they would need. ~Jenn :)

HarryGinnyDestiny - turnaround for beta reading is between you and your beta reader. Jennyelf is correct. However, the deadline for submission to the Challenge is midnight June 30.

Thanks! My own fault for not thinking about writing for the Challenge until it was too late. I recon it'll be around the 5,000 word mark with how far I'm through it so far, If I dont get it complete on time I'll just submit it as a regular story. :)

sapphire200182 - I live in GMT-5, or the east coast of the US. We are in daylight savings time also. However, I am NOT getting up in the middle of the night to close the Challenge. It will be Thursday afternoon, July 1st, before I can do anything

Apologies for not being able to complete my story on time. Will submit it in the normal way to the pre-dh area, with a 'Writen for the Girl-Talk Challenge - Unable to complete on time' note attached. Been a bad week for me... covered in sick and many sleepless nights... oh the joys of parenthood. :(

HarryGinnyDestiny - I'm sorry you couldn't make the Challenge deadline after trying so hard to do so. Parenting does take a lot out of you and is very unpredictable. The Challenge happens every other month. Maybe next time.

Thanks Sir Olivander. Still plan on submitting my story, as it's half written, just that it wont be judged. I said I'd never do a challenge anyways until i'd finished my 2 main fanfics. But this challenge really fitten in well with one of the oneshots I always planned on writing at some point. The prob was the story started growing legs, and the 10 days I had to write it started slipping 3 days into it, when my son's temp went through the roof and the vomitting started. Thankfully he made a full recovery, but made sure he gave it to his sister first. lol. What a week. Wouldn't have been so annoyed if it didn't fit in with that oneshot I had always planned on writing. Grrr...

When is the latest date I can get my story in for Beta-checking if I want to make it in time for the Challenge? Just started writing it a few days ago as had a really cool idea for it. Don't want to miss the submission date by a day. eek
