In keeping up our standards of good stories on SIYE, we are constantly checking ourselves and the works that are submitted and posted. At present, there is a negative trend that must be addressed.
It is a SIYE submission rule that all stories or chapters submitted to be posted must be a minimum of 1000 words long. Numerous authors have been submitting chapters short of 1000 words; some with less than 700 words. This word count does not include prologues and epilogues, and does not include author's notes (A/N) or summaries.
Some of these short chapters have gotten past our staff members and were validated and posted. This is an in-house issue and we are addressing it internally.
As a reminder - 1,000 words is the minimum per chapter/story with the exception of prologues and epilogues, that titles and chapters must be properly capitalized, and that stories must be properly formatted.
Even though someone may get their improper story through the validation process and posted on SIYE, it will still be in violation of the rules and subject to change, deletion, or rejection. Even if our staff member makes the mistake of approving it, it is still in violation.
Authors submitting stories or chapters that are too short will have their story/chapter rejected and an e-mail reminding them as to why it was rejected.
Authors with short stories/chapters already posted may edit them to bring them up to proper length. We encourage this method.
Some authors that had short stories/chapters recently posted may hear from a staff member reminding them that they are in violation and to make the appropriate corrections or their story/chapter will be removed.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause some authors. Authors and staff members are human and do make mistakes. We are trying to correct those mistakes and keep SIYE a quality Harry/Ginny FanFic site.

I've kept up with the Harry / Ginny Network and a few other High Qualitly H/G shipping sites for a while. One thing important to me, that I would appreciate feedback on, is wether you agree with the 1000 word limit? I mean just look around the HP world of shipping what do you typically get from shorter fics? For us to maintain the level of quality in fics that we recieve, don't you want submissions that are full enough to encompass the 1000 word limit? Isn't the author who meets the standard giving you at least a good read? Even when I wasn't a staffer, I still appreciated SIYE for the fullness of most fics I read. TTYL
