Well congrats to all the winners though i must admit i was slightly surprised to see need get both best agnst & best rmance as i would think that those two catogorys were mutally exclusive (personally i dint vote for it in ether catogry so may be it my own personal view on what consitutes a romance & what consitutes agnst) James

Thanks! It was a fun experience to send H/G to Canada and the trinket is makes it even nicer.

strike "is" in that last sentence!

Congrats to all the winners! Dynasties seem to be emerging here (*cough* Sovran, fake a smile, iluvfanfics *cough*)...

Penny Flamel came out of the woodwork on 2008.02.08 - 11:31PM to say:

Congratulations to all the winners, they all most definitely deserved it. Okay maybe this is flogging an old horse or whatver you'd like to call it, but we kind of seem to have a complete monopoly of the polls...anyway, there's been much arguing about this before and nothing came of it...once again, well done to all the authors and their stories.

Kezzabear came out of the woodwork on 2008.02.09 - 12:08AM to say:

Congrats! I went away and didn't come home in time to vote but congrats all the same!

Penny Flamel - The Staff has come up with some excellent revisions on how the voting is done for the Trinkets, but with all the other site issues, it was set aside. We will look at it again once all the hacker issues have been corrected (like the skins etc.) and we are running back at full normal. Thanks for your interest though. Keep up the suggestions and comments. Nominees and Winners - Congratulations to you all.

iluvfanfics came out of the woodwork on 2008.02.10 - 10:14PM to say:

This is the last time "Need" will be able to win a Trinket award (since it's now finished) and I just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for the nominations and votes. I don't think you have to be an author to appreciate the affirmation of any type of award. I am very grateful the recognition, the reading and the reviewing!

Victor Aagaard came out of the woodwork on 2008.02.12 - 02:12PM to say:

Shade, that's well put... and I get to be the Rams in that analogy! :-D

Enchanted came out of the woodwork on 2008.02.17 - 03:10AM to say:

Umm - totally unrelated, but I'm not sure who or how to address this issue.

I think that the Top Searches needs to be modified a bit. For example there are 600 stories in the Alternate Universe category that are not represented in the Top Searches. The only reason I mention this is - if you're going to Have OofP and HPB categories in the TS shouldn't other categories be represented as well? - Post Hogwarts, Alternate Universe, etc.

I think it would be a nice addition to the site. Just a suggestion.

Also, since I'm already posting a comment here...As far as the Trinkets go, they are what they are and I don't see a problem with the results. Talented author's and superior stories win on a consistent basis - Huzzah to them.

Happy Writing. ~Enchanted

Penny Flamel came out of the woodwork on 2008.02.17 - 03:35AM to say:

But then if the same stories and the same authors win consistently because the playing field never changes, doesn't that defeat the purpose of having the trinkets? Person that wins one month, is obviously going to get it again the next because their fan base stays the same or increases. I think everyone who's ever gotten a Trinket deserved it, regardless of how many times they've won, but does it really make much sense for the cycle to be repeated month after month?

I agree with enchanted - let the trinket system be. Dynasties? Sure, the dynasties form because those are the superb stories. Plus, you can look at the nominations if you are a reader looking to find other quality stories of that genre. Penny, I do see your point, since I noticed nothing different about Jan results and Dec. results, but I'm just afraid that tampering with the system could cause more harm than good. Anyway, congrats and kudos, and a thank you to admins who are spending time with this.

Kezzabear came out of the woodwork on 2008.02.19 - 08:48PM to say:

I too look at the nominations rather than teh winners *shrug* the winners rarely tell me anything new but often the nominations are illuminating :D .

Penny Flamel came out of the woodwork on 2008.02.19 - 09:53PM to say:

*sighs* Why does no one ever see my point? I don't want a major overhaul of the system, all I'm saying is stories that have already won in a certain category shouldn't be eligible again, at least for a certain period of time. And of course these stories must be brilliant, no denying that, but they're probably also the most popular, so that shouldn't mean that the other equally impressive stories don't get recognition.

Kezzabear came out of the woodwork on 2008.02.20 - 04:44AM to say:

I think we do see the point and what you want changed. i just don't think it's very fair - if it's updated that month then it should be eligible that month. theya re a monthly award it seems unfair to conduct it any other way. I think a nice touch would be to award palces perhaps to see who was 'running up' - give them some accolades also. I don't like the idea of making stories ineligble.

Enchanted has something to say, but it seems he/she is unable to do so. : Perhaps the fates would not like another a great big argument on the matter... ;-)
