Friendly Reminder

I just wanted to remind all of our authors to please include a disclaimer at the beginning of your story and/or chapters. Not that the Secret Police will be knocking on your door.... but you never know! Please give Ms. Rowling the acknowledgement and respect she deserves.

Yeah, I agree with the Professor. It's hard to remember to put it in, and you only remember after someone calls you out on it. It's good to get into the habit of typing the disclaimer first, that's what I do anyway.

I put them at the very beginning of all of my stories (along with a "this applies to all following chapters" note). Are we supposed to put them at the beginning of each and every chapter? Or does putting just the one at the beginning suffice?

Legally speaking, "Standard disclaimers apply" would be sufficient, particularly when posted in the context of a fanfic site. In fact, it's arguably not necessary at all given the standard blanket disclaimer in the footer of every page.
But if it's deemed necessary to duplicate the disclaimer - which I never bother with these days - perhaps the disclaimer could be automatically added?

I'd be in favour of an automatic disclaimer. It's not much of a bother to put it there ourselves, but it is one less thing to remember. Steve?
