And The Winners Are….
The Ministry of Magic’s Open House was a success. We had eight stories to compete for the coveted awards. Our judges spend some serious time setting up these entries to pick the best for each category. I would like to thank all those authors who met the Challenge and submitted a story. The race was close. But in the end, some clearly pulled out ahead of the others. And now, on behalf of SIYE, I would like to present the awards.

The Award for Best Overall, and
The Award for Most Ingenious goes to:
“Of Dark Detectors and Burnt Toast” by Dianne

The Award for Most Adventurous goes to:
“Refreshments, Games and OH MY...” by lecook4

The Award for Most Humorous goes to:
“Unwanted” by Potter47

An Honorable Mention goes to:
“A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Horcrux” by Spenser Hemmingway
for getting the most votes without winning a category.

The winning stories are now prominently listed in our Featured Stories section.

Those of you that have multiple chapters or need to do some editing may continue at this time. The Challenge category is back open. If your story is completed, please ensure it is edited and YES, as completed.

Be on the lookout for the next Challenge June 1. School is out but a mystery intrigues our dedicated sleuths.

PS: Some authors have asked if I would tell them how well they did in the judging. If you wish, e-mail me and I will tell you your results.

Aww ... Spenser didn't win anything? That's really odd. Oh well, at least they mentioned him - an honorable mention for that fatc, eh Spense? ;)

Professor Scroll came out of the woodwork on 2006.04.30 - 09:51AM to say:

Congratulations to everyone. I thought that all the stories were excellent.

lecook4 came out of the woodwork on 2006.04.30 - 10:43AM to say:

I can't believe I won an award! I really want to thank everyone who voted for me, Hey Spence, I really loved your story. I'm so glad you got an HM. You're one of the few who make me laugh out loud when I read yours. Congrats to all the winners. I loved every story I read. There wasn't one that didn't deserve some kind of award. Now, on to the next challenge. I loved the hedden message. LOL!!!

lecook4 came out of the woodwork on 2006.04.30 - 10:45AM to say:

Sorry, that's "hidden" message not hedden. I need more coffee.

Ginebra Wood came out of the woodwork on 2006.04.30 - 01:10PM to say:

Congratulations to all of you! and I can´t wait for the next challenge! Congrats again!

ChickenIsGood came out of the woodwork on 2006.04.30 - 08:28PM to say:

You seem to be making a habit of HM eh Spenser.

Spenser Hemmingway came out of the woodwork on 2006.04.30 - 08:58PM to say:

There is nothing wrong with Honorable Mention. It makes me work harder, and if it attracts attention to the story...gets people to read...so much the better. Thanks everyone. I'm looking forward to the next Challenge. Eric B.

ChickenIsGood came out of the woodwork on 2006.04.30 - 09:09PM to say:

The judges have to much trouble deciding Overall or Humor for you so they have to split. Last challenge for example there were twelve judges and you earned votes from eleven of them and you won HM. The skilled plot and writing causes you to lose humor votes as they peg you for best overall.

Jim McGuffin came out of the woodwork on 2006.04.30 - 09:12PM to say:

Potter is Poirot, eh?

Knightsaber came out of the woodwork on 2006.05.01 - 01:45AM to say:

I put Spenser down for Ingenuity. I figured that was obvious.

Spenser Hemmingway came out of the woodwork on 2006.05.01 - 09:03AM to say:

Poirot? Uh oh...I seem to remember who the killer was in Agatha Christie's final Poirot novel. Can we give Harry the mustache? I would have loved to have cast Harry and Ginny in the roles of Nick and Nora Charles from the Thin Man mysteries. Fang could have portrayed their little dog Asta. To work! To work!

Knightsaber came out of the woodwork on 2006.05.01 - 02:44PM to say:

Ahh no I never read any Christie novels, I'm gonna have to wait for the challenge after that now :)

mugglegurl came out of the woodwork on 2006.05.01 - 06:55PM to say:

What is it supposed to mean that we came out of the woodwork? Is there something I'm missing here?

boy crazy em came out of the woodwork on 2006.05.01 - 07:18PM to say:

mugglegurl.. if there is im missing it too. i havent read any christie novels either o well i guess im still an overreader without any ideas of my own... i cant come up with a plot to save my life

knightwhosaysni came out of the woodwork on 2006.05.01 - 07:27PM to say:

Abregaza came out of the woodwork on 2006.05.02 - 05:39AM to say:

If you haven't read Agatha Christie for awhile or at all, you can find several of her books online The Mysterious Affair at styles can be found in pdf and other formats at http://www.blackmask.com/Mystery/Agatha_Christie/index.html or a whole heap of Christie novels at http://dblaine.myincognito.com/index.html Happy reading, looking forward seeing what comes out of this challenge.

lucky_black_cat came out of the woodwork on 2006.05.04 - 04:42PM to say:
