Another Quidditch Challenge Update
Okay...how about this little tidbit to spark the imagination.
Finally, by the light of still another flash, Ginny spotted the Snitch approximately forty yards off to her right. Breathing a sigh of relief, she directed Harry's broom in its direction only to be nearly knocked from it at the last second by a near miss. A lightning bolt had actually hit the Snitch! Its magic had been negated. and it was simply falling.
"Oh crum!" Ginny shouted to the storm as she dropped the broom into a nosedive. Could she catch it before it hit? The Firebolt was the second fastest broom she had ever ridden. Only Tromed Love, the first racing broom Harry had built, could match it. The Snitch, however, was plummeting like a meteor. The nose of the broom was aimed straight down, and she was only three or four hundred feet up.
"Closer...closer...I almost have you she called out to it. Still hugging the broom, Ginny reached out to grab it, only to have the wind catch and pull it away from her. Without thinking, Ginny threw herself from the Firebolt, seizing and then clutching the ball to her chest, and only then realizing that she was now the one dropping to earth at breakneck (literally) speed.
Down she fell. Two hundred...a hundred and fifty...Ginny knew that she was mere seconds from death. Even if she had bothered to bring her wand up with her that morning, she doubted that she would have had any time for an Accio Firebolt. It was a manuever that both Harry and she had used a number of times during their stunts...other stunts. Perhaps it wouldn't even work in this electric storm.
Yes...Harry was going to be very upset about this.
Any inspiration? We have so much time left with this Challenge, and it doesn't need to be a novel-length. Shirley, you must have a thousands words in you about Harry, Ginny, and Quidditch. The rest of you do as well. Break out that quill true believers!

Quidditch Update Number One
Quidditch Challenge Update:
Wham! Wham! he heard, but he couldn't look. Harry gripped the very end of his broom as he traveled, and leaped forward. This time he retained contact with the Firebolt, using it to push him onward to... Harry grabbed the Snitch, swung under his broom, and allowed the momentum to carry him back on top of it again. Hogwart's team...the United Kingdom had won the exhibition Quidditch match.
Harry pulled to a hovering stop, holding the golden ball above his head, and only then taking the opportunity to turn to see what...who had saved him. Forty feet back, and slowly approaching him, was Ginny on her Wind-Duster broom. Her smile was a cross between amusement and intense pride. Every other bit of her countenance was demonstrating complete exhaustion.
Does this little passage give anyone any ideas? The Challenge is wide open! Harry/Ginny, Quidditch, and run with it. Try a story. Have some fun. We know you really want to.

Quidditch Challenge (2014-4)
♫ “Take me out to the Quidditch match!
Take me down to the pitch!
Buy me some corned beef and Bertie Bott’s!
We promise no hex when they take their shots!
Then it’s hoot, hoot, hoot for the home team!
If they crash it’s a shame!
But it’s one, two, three catch that Snitch!
It’s the old Quidditch match!” ♫
Yes true believers, it’s the start of another Quidditch season at Hogwarts. Harry and Ginny have taken to the air again on their brooms in search of Quaffles, Snitches, and untold glory. Anything can happen, and “anything” is a very broad word.
Your Challenge is to write our favorite couple into a Quidditch-central story. Excitement, action, suspense, and (as always) creativity are as much the goal as Harry catching that golden ball or Ginny catching her favorite wizard.
1. All general submission rules apply. Stories over 20,000 words are discouraged but not prohibited. R-rated stories are allowed but discouraged. Judges are not required to read stories over 20,000 words or any R-rated stories.
2. All entries must be submitted under Quidditch Challenge 2014-4, sub-category of SIYE Challenges and be submitted by midnight SIYE Time, Saturday, November 15, 2014. That gives you 45 days.
3. Completed stories are seriously preferred. Multiple chapters are allowed as long as all the requirements are in the chapters that are submitted by the deadline.
4. The categories for judging are Best Overall, Best Game Action, Most Humorous, and The People’s Choice Award.
Naturally, this Challenge is the perfect excuse to plop down with a tub of popcorn to watch all your favorite baseball, football, or fútbol games…as research.
*** With my thanks to Spenser Hemmingway for his 100% contribution. I can't sing that well.

And The Winners Are....
For the "Married Lives" Challenge 2014-3, we had one story submitted. It was still voted on in the different categories by the staff at SIYE. The results are...
The award for Best Overall goes to In the Family Way by pleurocoelus
The winning story is now prominently listed in our Featured Stories section.
The 2014-4 Challenge will start October 1st.
I would like to thank the staff of SIYE that sent in their votes. You know who you are. Your time to help out is quite valuable. The Challenge would not exist if nobody judged them. The People’s Choice Award was not used as there was only one story.

The Married Lives Challenge (2014-3) is now closed
SIYE has one story submitted for this Challenge so the judging will be simple. The SIYE staff will have the next fourteen days to read the story and determine what awards it deserves. The People's Choice Award will not be used as there is no competition. Watch on August 31 for the posted announcement.

Happy Birthday Ginny
It is now 11 August in Hogsmeade, London, The Burrow at The Ottery St. Catchpole, Devon, and the in city of Firefly, Freedonia (another one for you kids to Google). Ginny Weasley was born 11 August 1981. We here at Sink Into Your Eyes would like to wish this half of our special couple a very wonderful birthday.
For those who seem to ask every year, SIYE posts five birthdays a year--Harry, Ginny, Bonnie, Daniel, and of course JKR. Please do not take this in the wrong way--we love Dobby and Neville, but we're a Harry/Ginny site.
The Holyhead Harpies are hosting the birthday party this year. I've been told repeatedly that I'm not to come near the hall. This is at the request of the banjo-playing house-elf band providing the entertainment (at a location undisclosed to me). Could...someone please tell me if everyone has a good time.

Early next week - Monday/Tuesday the SIYE server will be moving. This may mean there could be up to 24 hours of downtime. Hopefully at the end of this the server will prove much more reliable.
I will keep everyone informed with exact times.
Edit: Siye will be down between 1200 and 1600 GMT on Tuesday 12th August.

Married Lives Challenge Update #2
“Excuse me!” the Healer-midwife shouted as she ran past the three pregnant women. She was moving in the direction of the screams and small explosions.
“Now why would she be wearing a Muggle Army helmet?” Hermione asked no one in particular.
“Magic deliveries are not handled the way Muggle births are,” Ginny explained. “Wizarding fathers tend to risk being on the receiving end of some very nasty hexes if they remain in the room during the worst of the labor, especially the longer ones. There’s a reason the Burrow is constructed so oddly. It’s from the rebuilding after six children being born there. Dad learned his lesson by the time Percy arrived. Thirty-seven hours of hard labor.”
“I wish our baby could be born at home. Neville says the insurance company absolutely prohibited it. I suppose St. Mungo’s is a bit more solidly constructed. Hmm…wouldn’t it have been nice if we could have the babies at our old Hogwarts infirmary?”
Ginny and Hermione nodded at their friend’s suggestion. They were all sentimental enough to appreciate the idea.
“I suppose it doesn’t matter where our baby is born, as long as it’s healthy,” Ginny finally said, “and doesn’t try to take one of our brooms up before he or she can walk…like I did.”
Just a few thoughts inspired by the births of my own children. By number two I really was ready for my Army helmet and flack vest. What experiences can you translate to this Challenge?
*** Some experience from Spenser, thanks for the update.
